Rocco, Rocco and More Rocco!

Linda on Sep 23rd 2008

Tonight, I watched Rocco DiSpirito teach the contestants on “The Biggest Loser,” how to cook up some healthy recipes that were also inexpensive.  I didn’t even know a new season had started.  However, I’m grateful and I’ll use it as inspiration to stick with my noontime workouts.

After I watched him cook on NBC, I tuned into ABC, to see if he’ll make it through to the next round on “Dancing with the Stars.”  My mother’s thrilled that I’m watching it, but after seeing Rocco dance last night’ I told her, “I might not be watching for very long.”  Although, now that Matthew recognized Lacey Schwimmer  from “So You Think You Can Dance,” he displayed interest in the show.  Another series for the DVR.

Speaking of the DVR, I paused the results show to write about how embarrassed I feel waiting to see if Rocco gets kicked off.  He was so bad last night, I can’t imagine seeing him dance again.  So I’m sort of wishing he gets kicked off, so he can leave with his head high in giving it his best shot.  Well, at least we know he can cook…in the kitchen at least.  Either way, doesn’t he have a great smile?

A Writing Assignment

Linda on Aug 21st 2008

Friends at Infinity Sport & Fitness asked me to write testimonials about the results I saw after doing boot camps, personal training and group training with them. I submitted the statements below. You can read more about the “fun” I had by clicking on the “weight/boot camp” category. The 91/2 inches and 10 pounds lost was actually after TWO boot camps, I never measured myself after the third one, but I did buy smaller jeans, and that’s all that really matters. I’ll let you know if they use them and where. Continue Reading »

Spiritual Boot Camp - Part Ten of ?? - 9 1/2 Inches Lost!

Linda on Jun 10th 2008

Almost 10 inches lost in two boot camps, amazing! I’m so grateful to my boot camp instructor, Raymond and trainer, Mike who’ve been essential tools in my loss. They’ve encouraged me to dig deep and to have confidence in my abilities. In turn, I also have confidence in their abilities to take over the business and to run it with the most professional and caring customer service any client could ask for. Check out their new website, Infinity Sport & Fitness. New boot camps start next week, June 16th. They even added a lunchtime boot camp for those crazy enough to give up their lunchtime to work out! I’m thrilled about that since, I enjoy doing just that. Hmm, “thrilled,” maybe I’m exaggerating but look at who’s pushing me!

Sampson, Fleas and Me (Spiritual Boot Camp Part Nine of ??)

Linda on May 29th 2008

Sampson, my fifteen year old cat, who has no front claws, has been a housecat all his life. Each time we’d open a door, he and his sister, Lila tried to escape. “Back, back, back,” became a ritual saying at every entryway. Ever since Lila passed, Sampson’s gotten bored and expressed with his loud, Siamese voice his desire to go outside. Over the past six months, as I’ve let go of a lot of things, control being one of them, I’ve let him out to wander. At first he just stayed in the backyard, exploring the sights but mostly the smells and now he even ventures into the front yard. On my days off and in the evenings, I’ll leave a French door and screen open so he can come and go as he pleases. What’s funny to me is sometimes finding him sitting inside the house at the open door’s edge looking out as if the door were closed. Continue Reading »

“Feeling Strong Now” (Spiritual Boot Camp Part Eight of ??)

Linda on May 22nd 2008

We got lucky yesterday at boot camp because the heat wave that was strangling Southern California, broke. Monday’s session had the class using up a whole roll of paper towels to wipe off sweat from our faces, the mats and equipment. Disgusting! Not only was it hot, the air conditioning wasn’t working when we did our circuit training. So yesterday’s cooler weather made it easier to run to the trails with dumbbells in hand. Spiritual Boot Camp - Part Seven of ??

Linda on May 8th 2008

I want to sing the “Inchworm” song! I lost almost an inch a week on my first seven weeks of boot camp. Since my singing leaves a little to be desired, I’ll leave David Cook to do the honors while I continue with another round of boot camp. After a week break, I’m back with the boys at Infinity Sport and Fitness. This is the second week and as Raymond, my trainer, pointed out, “What, no blog?” I know I have at least one reader who wants to be updated, so here goes. I brought weights to yesterday’s session for the first time. I made it through eight weeks of borrowing from the gym or sharing. Raymond assured us, “Today’s an easy day,” what a joke! No time has he said that, did I feel we were getting a break, especially yesterday. Continue Reading »

Spiritual Boot Camp - Part Six of ??

Linda on Apr 16th 2008

Bernie and Dan were two of my favorite eliminated players and I was so happy to see Bernie take the $100,000 prize. I was even more excited to see Kelly and Ali competing for the big prize. If you haven’t caught on, I’m all caught up in the results of the “The Biggest Loser, Couples” Everyone looked incredible and the women stole the show. Last night’s final episode inspired me to do the best I could today at boot camp. That was until we ran to the dreaded hill, ran up the dreaded hill in a variety of ways, forward, side stepping and backwards (I never knew quads could tire so quickly from one movement), just to do five sprints up and down the steepest part of it. I inevitably ended up at the back of the pack. Continue Reading »
