On July 4th, I was channel surfing, when I came across a show on TBN about prisoners of the Vietnam War. I watched several elderly men talk about their horrific experiences of being injured, captured and tortured. Each man shared his individual nightmare with details only he could recall. And while each man’s account was different, they all shared a common bond; their faith in God. Some were held for a period of time in solitary confinement yet they knew they weren’t alone. They realized they could never be separated from God. One man said, “My prison experience went from faith in God, hope in God and love of God to knowledge of God.” These faithful men talked about hours of prayer and each one expressed how his relationship with God was tested and tried. I won tickets from 95.5 KLOS radio station yesterday. It all started on Tuesday when my friend emailed commanding me to listen for a chance to win Steely Dan or Santana tickets. Wednesday morning’s email said, “Today, they’re giving away Mellencamp tix.” It’s hard to focus on the radio when you’re supposed to be focused on work, so I mostly tried to win when I’d receive an email that screamed, “CALL NOW! One time I asked a friend to use my cell phone while I tried on my work phone. A co-worker asked us, “What are you doing?” I said, “Trying to win Melon Head tickets.” Continue Reading »
